The breeding company Hákon was established in the year 2007 or the same year that Hákon was born. Hákon‘s parents were and are sought after and famous stars, as in the year 2006 Hátíðs received a perfect 10,0 twice for tölt and at the National Horse Festival she placed 4th in the 5 year old mares. She received a score of 8,62 for riding abilities (no pace). Apart from the perfect tölt, she received 9,5 for form under rider, 9 for trot, willingness and temperament. Hátið had previously scored 9,5 for tölt in the 4 year old category. Álfur, Hákon‘s sire, was equally popular with the breeders of the memorable Álfadís from Selfoss and Orri from Þúfa. This chestnut (head) pinto high action stallion was well noted at the National Horse Festival in 2006 where he placed 4th in the 4 year old stallions. Álfur scored 8,44 for riding abilities (no pace). At the National Horse Festival two years later, Álfur improved his scores and received 8,69 for riding abilities, with three 9,5, two 9,0 and placed fifth in the 6 year old stallion category.
At the second general annual meeting of the breeding company Hákon, Hákon showed that he not only has a great pedigree. He is tall, with a well raised, supple neck, shows a soaring trot, with high action yet long striding front leg movements. This is an exceptionally interesting horse, and as a bonus he has the same colouring as his sire.
